Fact-Checking & Corrections Policy

Accuracy matters, especially with money. This page explains how we check facts before publishing and what we do when we get something wrong.

Before publishing

  • Every factual claim, number and rule is checked against a reliable source — preferably the original (a government agency, regulator, or the organization itself).
  • Changing figures such as rates, limits and fees are checked against the current official source on the day of review, with the jurisdiction and date noted.
  • Calculations in examples are re-checked, and illustrative examples are labelled as such.
  • AI-assisted drafts receive the same human fact-check as any other draft.

Reporting an error

If you think something is wrong or out of date, please tell us using the contact form, and include the page and what you think is incorrect. Every report is reviewed.

How we correct

  • Significant errors (a wrong fact, figure or rule that could mislead) are corrected promptly, and we add a short correction note to the article explaining what changed and when.
  • Minor fixes (typos, broken links, wording) are corrected without a note.
  • Updates because rules or data changed are reflected in the article’s “Updated” date.
  • If a related video contains the error, we add a correction in the video description or pinned comment where possible.
